Libera is a not for profit boys singing group, based in the South London area of UK. It provides unrivalled musical experience and education for boys by staging concerts, performing on television, leading worship and recording music, both on their own and with major performing artists.
Boys get the opportunity to sing in major venues both in the UK and internationally. Recent performances have included Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo, Sejong Centre in Seoul, Yankee Stadium and Riverside Church in New York City, Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and Arundel Cathedral. They have recently led acts of worship in Westminster Cathedral and Buckfast Abbey and they have been frequently featured on BBC-TV ‘Songs of Praise’.
In addition to the unrivalled performing experience being a member of Libera offers, boys learn the value of teamwork and respect for each other. As they grow older and their voices change many boys stay on to sing lower voice parts in other manifestations of the group and pass on their skills by mentoring younger ones and taking on supporting roles.
The singers of Libera are aged seven to sixteen and come from a variety of backgrounds, attending many different schools in South London, including local state schools, church schools and performing arts schools. Boys of all denomination or none are welcome. Membership need not conflict with other church obligations.
We are always keen to hear from potential new members. Boys are given a wide experience of performing and are all trained to a high standard in singing and reading music. They usually join between the ages of 7 and 10 - but older boys are considered if they have appropriate ability or have sung elsewhere.
